about me
Hi, I'm Courtney! (I also go by Pika)
I’m a Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director based in Los Angeles. For more than 10 years, I've specialized in branding, publishing, packaging, and licensed IP. I’ve lovingly built my career around my love of design, Japanese pop culture, and fandom.
I've created work for globally recognized brands and licensors, including Sanrio, Toei Animation, Miffy, tokidoki, Pusheen, The Powerpuff Girls, and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I lead projects from concept through production while collaborating closely with licensors and cross-functional creative teams.
Outside of client work, I'm the founder of Girltaku Media, an anime and manga publication that began as a passion project. It has grown into a platform celebrating fandom through editorial content, social media, and community. Building Girltaku has allowed me to combine my love of storytelling, design, and creative leadership while working directly with publishers (such as VIZ Media, Yen Press, Kodansha), entertainment companies (TOHO Animation, Crunchyroll, Hulu), and fellow fans.
I'm a lifelong anime and manga fan with a personal collection of more than 1,300 manga volumes, anime home video releases, and pop culture magazines. I'm very passionate about preserving physical media! I bring that same enthusiasm into every project, believing the best creative work comes from being an active member of the community you're designing for.
When I'm away from my desk, you'll probably find me reading romance webcomics, playing gacha games, attending anime conventions, or spoiling my ragdoll cat.
